ICEMAT Mousepad

The Lowdown

If you visit the ICEMAT webpage you will read this about the mousepad:

- ICEMAT is made of glass. The surface of the mousepad is treated in a special way, which gives the surface a good grip on the mouseball, and makes it very precise

- The surface won't destroy the Teflon feets on the mouse

- The silicone feets underneath the ICEMAT, secures that the ICEMAT will stay on the table

- Our logo is printed on the bottom of the ICEMAT, so it won't affect your actual movement on the pad.

I am not going to argue any of these but I will share with you what I found out about the ICEMAT mousepad.

First of all, when I opened the box I saw this slick looking mousepad. The mousepad was glass with the logo printed on the bottom so you don’t have to worry about it rubbing off later on down the road.

I was excited to get this thing on my desk and check out how it performs compared to my “Radpadz”.

The Radpadz is a little bigger than the ICEMAT. Big is always better. Never buy a small mouse pad, trust me you will be regretting it. The ICEMAT I big enough its just that the Radpadz is bigger.

The ICEMAT does not support the Optical Mouse. I currently use the Microsoft Intelli Mouse Explorer. Lucky I have an old Microsoft Intelli wheel mouse here as well as my Intelli Explorer. I decided to try the ICEMAT with both of them.

I decided to take 2 pictures. One with each mouse pad

The first one I tried was my Microsoft Intelli Explorer. I immediately thought there was something the matter with my mouse. It was about as accurate as a blind man would be trying to shoot a target….ok it wasn’t that bad but it was jumpy and shaky. It was so bad I couldn’t continue any further I had to put the Intelli with wheel mouse on. It was driving me nuts.

I then put on the mouse that the ICEMAT recommends, the Intelli wheel mouse. This was a lot more accurate but the sounds coming form the mouse sliding across glass just went through me, It is one of them really annoying sounds.

Another thing about the ICEMAT is something that happens with all glass, the fingerprints and marks easily made on it. I handled the mouse pad for over 30 minutes and at the end of this the mousepad was looking pretty dirty. Nothing that Windex can’t get out, the question is do you really want to Windex your mouse pad?

Few good points is that the logo is printed on the bottom of the mousepad so you don’t have to worry about wearing it off at all and It has 6 rubber feet that hold the mousepad in securely as well.
