Don’t have to say much to you regarding what was gained with this upgrade let face it I went from a Slot to a Socket, 600mhz to 1000mhz and I don’t need to put out another chunk on dough to buy a overclocking device such as the “Goldfinger” I had with my previous Athlon, all you need is a simple pencil to overclock these badboys. The CPU fan, T-Bird 1000 chip and Asus A7V
I upgraded my previous board 4 months prior so I have not gained tremendous advantages from this upgrade compared to other components upgraded. You may be thinking then why upgrade? Reason being is that the Abit KA7 is Slot and I needed a Socket board. The Asus does also come with an AGP Pro Slot and extra USB add in slots if you need them giving you a total of 7 USB connections. Board with Chip and Orb installed
The obvious here is the jump from 128megs to 256megs and the change from Micron Ram from Generic. While I compared 2 separate benchmarks with 256 Meg generic and 256 Meg Micron ram there was a great difference in the benchmarks. I strongly advise when purchasing Ram, make sure its brand name. A lot of people do not see a difference with 256mg over 128mg it really depends on what your primary use of the computer is. You can never have enough Ram and with the prices being so low now you can get a 256mg stick for the same price as you paid for a 128mg stick this time last year.
