Creating a Masterpiece

I hadn’t even thought about doing the other side of the case. I mean, you can’t see it or anything, so what’s the difference? Apparently the job wasn’t done, and I had to draw another design, so I got to work again. Once I knew what the one side was going to look like, it didn’t take me long to draw the other side at all. Maybe a half hour, if it was even that long. I would say that the hardest part about this process was cutting the design out onto the case. Because the computer case is metal, and I wanted the design cut sharply into it, every time I tried to draw a curve I would have to move the case around. I made very few mistakes, but the ones I did make are pretty noticeable if you look hard enough. Oops! Of course, girl talking with my friend on the phone at the same time doesn’t really help the situation much. I thought that the second side was going to take longer because of the size, but it seems that I had gotten the hang of it (or maybe it was because I didn’t have a huge hole to avoid), and it didn’t take me long at all.

Because the front of the computer is plastic, we decided against carrying on the design. Instead, we found a dragon sticker that we thought would be appropriate for the face. We didn’t have very many choices in the colour of the sticker, but we finally decided that the yellow would look best with the gold and silver. Before we put everything back together, I was a little disappointed with the design I had painted after seeing how great the dragon looked on the black background, but the end result looks not so bad.

A few pictures of the final masterpiece

I’m hoping, now that the computer case is freshly painted and put back together, that Quantum will appreciate all of the hard work I put into this project. I wouldn’t call it professional, but it’s pretty damn close. It would probably have turned out better if I would have been paid a heftier sum, but Quantum could only pay me in broken computer hardware. I guess I will have to settle for self-satisfaction and the feeling of accomplishment I gained this week (well, it was more like 3 weeks, but who’s counting). I think I deserve a pat on the back and a very loooong nap for what I did, and maybe I will, once I wash the dishes...
